Employer Benefits
- Less Responsibility
- Employers can access the labour of apprentices and trainees without having to shoulder the responsibility of direct indenture, which can last as long as four years.
- No IR hassles
- There are no problems with industrial relations or unfair dismissal - if these issues arise, they are a WAGTS responsibility.
- Choice of skill level
- There is the flexibility to specify the stage of training of the apprentice or trainee required. The WAGTS provides assurances of their capacity for working to the trade standards specified by employers.
- Choice of time
- Hire of apprentices or trainees only for as long or short a time as required - there is no maximum or minimum limit. Forty-eight (48) hours notice is all that is required for early termination of an employment contract.
- No personality clashes
- The WAGTS carefully screens apprentices for their suitability. It is very experienced in matching apprentices to employer needs.
If things do not work out, apprentices are removed or exchanged without argument. Employers don't lose sleep trying to resolve personality clashes. - Less paperwork
- Paperwork and hassle are much reduced - the WAGTS takes care of all the paperwork to do with apprentice registration, off-the-job training at TAFE, etc. It also looks after payment of holiday pay, sick leave, superannuation, workers compensation, ATO group certificates, etc.
How It Works
- Simple Contracts
- WAGTS operates on the "keep it simple" principle. The aim is to keep the paperwork and hassles for host employers to a minimum. The hiring of apprentices is undertaken by a way of basic contract agreement between host employers and the WAGTS.
- Trial Period
- All contracts come with a non-obligation, one-week trial period. If within the first week employers are not satisfied with the arrangements, then their allotted apprentices or trainees can be returned to WAGTS, and all charges for the week will be waived.
- WAGTS stays in touch
- Apprentices and trainees are visited regularly on site by specialist WAGTS project officers, whose job is to monitor their performance and ensure that the employers are satisfied.
- Hassle-free time sheets
- Apprentices and trainees are provided with carbon sensitive timesheet books. Apprentices complete their time sheets at the end of each week, which host employers must sign to verify. They are then faxed or mailed to the WAGTS pay office and host employers are billed accordingly. Employers can pay by either direct debit, credit card, cheque or cash.
- Easy payments
- Wages payments are made by WAGTS to apprentices via direct payment into their bank accounts. The WAGTS carries responsibility for all payments in respect of award entitlements.
